There is a course for everything in our catalogue — not one generic class. Want to make a daybed, you learn the daybed. Want a sala, you learn the sala. Want fencing, you learn fencing. Tell us what you want to build and we build the course around it.
The fee follows the size of the build, not the number of days, because different pieces take different amounts of time. A small piece finished in a day is 5,000 THB, a medium one 15,000, a full structure 50,000 — per course, per person. You do the work; you are not watching a demonstration.
Materials are separate, and only if you want to take the piece home: 60% of what that product actually sells for. If the course builds a daybed we sell at 550 THB, the materials are 330. Leave the piece with us and you pay nothing for them.
Why we teach: bamboo built properly is a craft that is quietly disappearing. If you want to start your own workshop afterwards, we are not going to stop you — we would be glad. Ask us about sourcing, prices and how to quote. There is nothing we keep back.
Common questions about this
- What do the courses cost?
- By the size of the build, per course per person: 5,000 THB for a small piece, 15,000 for a medium one, 50,000 for a full structure. Materials are charged separately, and only if you keep what you make — 60% of that product’s selling price.
- Can I take a course with no experience?
- Yes — most people who come have never held a bamboo knife. We start with reading the culm and choosing it, then move to cutting and jointing. If you are starting from nothing, take a small-piece course first.
- Can I use this to start my own business?
- Yes, and several people come with exactly that in mind. We teach it fully — ask about where to buy culms, what they cost and how to price a job.
